Being a long-time fan of Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda, I am excited to have the opportunity to introduce this product to one of my readers. In fact, it’s the #1 detergent I recommend to friends with environmental sensitivities, small children, or washing cloth diapers!
I prefer detergents with a short list of ingredients that work easily in my HE front-loading washer without any extra steps, such as first dissolving the powder in warm water. Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda is the only powder I’ve used in my washer that hasn’t resulted in caked detergent on freshly-washed clothing. It dissolves quickly and rinses extremely well.
I love that Nellie’s doesn’t contain any oxygen bleach like other powdered detergents I’ve used — I prefer to add my own only when needed, to cut down on fabric fading and garment wear and tear. Nellie’s does make an excellent oxygen bleach for those loads that need it, however! In fact, Nellie’s only contains 5(!) ingredients. There are no fragrances or fabric softeners in this detergent, making it safe for cloth diapers and particularly nice for baby clothing.
I use Nellie’s on all our laundry. With three boys (one of whom is in cloth diapers) and a husband, that’s a lot of laundry! Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda is relatively easy to find for purchase at local (Ottawa) health food stores, baby shops, and can be purchased online through Nellie’s All-Natural.
Nellie’s has generously offered to sponsor a giveaway for my readers. The winner receives a 50 load bag of Nellie’s All Natural Detergent to try themselves. I’m confident that you will love it as much as I do!

I use Laundry Tart for my diapers. But I still use Tide Free for the clothes. I want to switch natural detergent for washing clothes and I have heard good things about Nellie’s!
This isn’t the worst laundry story but it’s kinda funny: When I bought a new FuzziBunz diaper pail in red (I already have pink and green), I was really excited and threw it in the wash with my diapers right away. My husband transferred the inserts from the washer to dryer. When I took them out, my inserts were All Pink!! The red diaper pail bled onto my inserts!!! It was crazy!!! I took it back to the person who sold me the diaperpail and both her and Fuzzibunz were willing to replace my inserts (since everything was still under warranty). But I decided to keep my pink inserts because I have a little boy and pink stuff was a commodity in our house.
I loved my pink inserts!!! Hahah…
I want to try Nellie’s Laundry Soda as I embark into my first ever cloth diapering adventure as a new mom! My whole family has ver sensitive skin so I am hoping to avoid this with new baby as I have heard such good things about Nellies.

I’ve been using Nellie’s for diapers and will switch entirely once I finish off the stupid box of Tide! I can’t believe I didn’t switch to natural detergent earlier. I really love Nellie’s – it truly does a great job and my clothes smell actually clean, NOT chemically “clean”.

Ok, a laundry story. I will dig deep into my memory banks back to my time in basic training. Although as an fairly naive 18 year old, I had done laundry at home fairly often, I was completely unprepared for the shock of moving straight across the country for a summer, running at 6am every morning, and standing at the end of my bed for inspections. Also, there were a limited number of washers for the hundreds of recruits in the barracks, so the obvious answer was to stuff everything you possibly could into one load, and use A LOT of soap. This however had the opposite effect I was seeking; I ended up with a load of largely unclean green clothing, and an explosion of soap bubbles overflowing from the washer. It was not an ideal situation! However, after rinsing several times, and getting next to no sleep, I finally made to the following day so I could once again stand at the end of my bed for an inspection.
Wow…that was a long time ago. I take much better care of my laundry now, and have learned some valuable lessons about laundering cloth diapers from a good friend. Fingers cross I get to trial some Nellie’s!
Just wanted to say thank you for promoting Nellie’s All-Natural. We can’t wait to get this product out to more people and have them see for themselves what Enviromentally, Clean Laundry really looks and smells like
I have just started cloth diapering this week and would love to try this detergent!
I would love to try an environmentally clean laundry soda. Great giveaway!

My story is of what one shouldn’t wash. My darling husband has been warned NEVER TO WASH diapers. He has also been warned, what is a wool cover, which doesn’t go in the wash. One morning he put the wet diaper and wool cover in the diaper pail. I take it out about an hour later and guess what, my diaper is now covered in blue marks (from the cover). I lay the wool cover on the side of the pail, to dry as it is soaked. The next day he washes the diapers and throws everything in, including the wool cover. He still hasn’t learned his lesson and still doesn’t know what a wool cover is. And he still thinks he is helping me by washing the diapers. When will he learn. Probably once the kid is out of diapers.
