I had a lot of fun discussions about entrepreneurship and achieving a good work/life balance and today’s Idle Hands show. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have two jobs I enjoy that fit into my family life and allow me to be at home with my kids at this stage of their lives, and wish that this was possible for everyone.
As always, and as socially nerve-wracking as I find these sorts of events, it was great to meet current and new customers, make fresh connections, and talk about my business. I’m looking forward to applying to the Holiday show at the end of the year already!
How do you achieve a healthy work / life balance?

Not sure if it’s ‘balanced’, but doing what I love and what works for my family is a priority for me. When you are happy in your work-life, then it spills over to your family. A happy mom makes for a happy house
That’s more or less my thoughts, too.
Balance is different for everyone. I have a hectic (in some people’s opinion) schedule with 3 kids in sports and other activities, volunteering and a little bit of writing too. To my surprise, having all 3 kids in hockey this year provided for some much needed family bonding. Time spent whether it was in the car, watching one play a game or chatting with the others while waiting out a practice gave us an opportunity to be together.
Also, having my kids watch me work or volunteer offers me the chance to show them that life is about more than ‘just them’ & their needs and gives them a broader perspective of the world around them.
Do tell us if you are ever at the Locavore Artisan Food Fair in New Edinburgh! And this is a great reminder for me to get out to more of the local craft events!
We post any upcoming events to our business Facebook page and Twitter feed.
During the school year, we unofficially offer Sunday afternoon pick-up orders at the Crichton Street School of Dance building, as our middle son does Ukrainian dance there on that day — dance is over until September, though.
