It’s 1:52am on Sunday morning. I’m wide awake — for some unknown reason my brain just doesn’t want to shut down yet. I’m not even tired enough to read myself to sleep. The way I feel right now, I’d end up finishing the book and then it would be 4am and I’d still be wide awake.
Some nights I don’t mind being wide awake — with my depression under control, my insomnia is generally a result of my brain thinking big creative thoughts and I’m happy to be awake with a reason. I’m a “middle of the night” person for that sort of stuff — always have been — and it’s great to feel like I’m getting back to normal.
I focused my energies tonight into a gift I’m working on for a friend. I’m pretty happy with how it’s going so far, and it’s nice to have my pens out being used again. I haven’t been drawing for quite awhile. I may scan it when I’m done and share it here after it has been gifted.
Wouldn’t do to ruin the surprise! 
I want to get a new tattoo. I have something particular in mind–it’s been in mind for a number of years, but I’ve either been pregnant or nursing, or.. well.. whatever. Life happens, right?
What I want will require a delicate touch, 
as it’s somewhat fine work in a challenging area (a finger). I’m looking for artist recommendations and tips. The last time I got a tattoo was at Living Colour about 9 years ago and it was pretty plain–in fact, I distinctly recall the tattooist verifying that I really didn’t want something more elaborate and saying she felt bad that she still had to charge me the $50 minimum for such a simple job.
So, talk to me! Point me in the right direction!
