I’m stealing this idea. My book reports are few and far between, because I don’t always have time to (or necessarily want to) talk about a book when I finish reading it. Thanks! 🙂
Wow, you sure do read a lot. My one question is how? Are you a speed reader, insomniac or did you skip the repeat of Grey’s Anatomy last week because it was a repeat. I found you blog randomly, I am new to the ottawa area and was trying to get a feel for things that go on. Bottom line, you sound interesting. I will visit the blog again. Last thing…I have been told you are supposed to do one brave thing everyday so here goes my brave thing. A question. DO you meet with a book club to discuss your reads? If so do you need a new, curious, keen member who needs to connect with some interesting people in Ottawa? If not are you interested in forming one? Let me know. Maggie… new to ottawa…mom of a 2 year old girl who is missing her vancouver book club.
Cheers.
I read quickly. In my prime, I could easily polish off a 500-700 page book in an evening. It takes me longer now–kids sort of bite into the “me” time. 😉
I don’t meet with a book cloub–I tend to read at whim and picking up a scheduled book to discuss kind of brings with it all the baggage of the English Lit degree I managed to avoid completing. I never know what will appeal to me when I finish a given book, so I keep a lot of “want to reads” on hand and decide on the spur of the moment. Right now I am reading a 1910 copy of Great Expectations. I love the smell of old books and something about this time of year (Christmas) makes me think about days gone by, etc and the “old book smell” feeds into that comfortable state.
If you contact me offline through my gmail address, I can point you in the direction of a Tavern knit and stitch group I’ve really been enjoying. 🙂
