Today is the last day of the challenge. Most of today’s diapers will be getting changed by my husband, as I’m off to work and leaving my 2yr old in the care of his father and older brothers.

Tomorrow is the last day of the challenge — two more loads of diapers to wash by hand. I have to be honest: so far this challenge hasn’t felt terribly challenging. I don’t find the handwashing that difficult, I always line-dry my diapers so there’s no difficulty there, and I’ve used flats as inserts for my pockets diapers for a long time. Switching to using them in a wrap instead was no real hardship.

I’m at the halfway point in this year’s challenge and it’s going very well. I had once Snappi failure that resulted in a damp patch on the floor, but it would have happened had he been wearing a prefold instead so I’m not blaming the flats!
The washing isn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. My Hillbilly Washing Machine speeds up the process and gets them really clean without a lot of effort. My hands, however, would like me to invest in a pair of rubber gloves, as wringing out so many wet diapers has left them a bit chapped.
