The last couple years I’ve had really good luck. I’ve won contests, I’ve been in the “right place” at the “right time” and I’ve been very grateful for whatever good vibes the universe has been sending my way. Friends have asked me for my secret, but I really don’t have one other than to tell them I like to “pay it forward” and invest in future good karma.

Recently I participated in a contest hosted by a local salon, with the prize of a haircut. I shared the story of my worst haircut ever (I’m still waiting for my parents to email a copy of my school picture that year), and my wonderful friends jumped to the request to “like” my entry. My sad story won.

It’s been a couple of ReallyBusyWeeks since my last post. I’m going to do a half-assed pointform recap here and reserve the possibility of more fleshed out posts on a couple of the things for when the kids finish school. ­čśÇ

  • The family and I loaded up our minivan with kegs, bikes, and camping gear and headed down to Camp Pascobac on Belleisle Bay for Big Strange New Brunswick Brew — an annual tradition for a motley (and terribly fun!) group of home brewers. It was a blast — we all got tanned, enjoyed great food and fresh air, the adults got some great beer and cider, and I actually got to socialize this year. Last year, #2 was a bit too “busy” so I confined the boys to the beach for the day and hung out there — very few people even remember seeing me! We’re planning to go for the whole week next year.
  • #1 (age 6) has learned the basics of multiplication and is driving me batty by putting it into action and constantly asking me if he has the right answer. It’s really cute, rather amazing to me, but incredibly annoying!

I’m feeling a tad oogy this morning — it’s either the reduced dosage of Effexor, the news that my great-uncle’s cancer has taken a turn for the worse and he is in the hospital, or nerves regarding my hysterosonogram this morning. Blomidon PinkThere’s also the possiblilty that I am a wee bit stressed about our upcoming camping adventure with the boys..

One bright thing in all this is that our miserable humidity and heat has made all my rosebushes burst into bloom all at once — I was a little worried I’d miss them while we were camping. ­čÖé They smell delicious! Another bright thing is that in a few days I will be knitting on the beach. Woo!
