Sorry to keep you all in suspense, but I had a good ultrasound (for the most part). There’s a real live baby in there, with a real live beating heart. Yay!

That said, I’m still not totally stress-free about this whole pregnancy thing. The baby measures 9 days behind “dates” — I typically ovulate late, so this isn’t necessarily “abnormal” — but has a good strong heartbeat. I will feel better when this u/s is followed up with the midwives and I can see that growth is remaining consistent, though. My EDD based on gestational age is May 18, 2010.

Random point form:

  • I love my workplace. It’s the natural parenting equivalent of a candy store. My boss is great, my co-workers are great and the customers are great. Working again — even in this limited manner — is just fantastic.
  • I’ve been off the Prednisone for less than 48hrs and my toe is already starting to become inflammed again. I see my rheumatologist this afternoon so that she can say “yes, it’s your arthritis” and “I would like you to take xyz drug every day to prevent this happening again” — to which I will respond “no thanks” and leave things essentially where they were about 10 years ago.   (more…)

Two days ago, on the walk home from school, #2 found and befriended a little striped snail. He was very worried it might get hurt on the sidewalk and insisted we build it a house in the garden. Building one house was so much fun that we quickly moved on and built another, just in case our snail (named ‘Lyon’) had friends come to stay.

The school year has begun. Tuesday was #1’s first day back — he was quite nervous about it and had a good deal of trouble sleeping the night before. Things seemed under control, though, once we hit the schoolyard and found some of his friends. He’s in Grade 1 now and he likes to use this to emphasize things he says.

#2 doesn’t start until this coming week. He will miss the first day due to a Very! Exciting! triptothedentistfororalsurgery. I’m a bit nervous about that, but it will be good to have it all sorted out. I am completely amazed that his tooth hasn’t bothered him at all this summer. By rights, it should be excruciatingly painful.
